Ramon Ritchie Curtis, of Rexburg, Idaho, passed away at the age of 87 on April 13, 2015 in Ucon, Idaho, at the home of his daughter, Ramona and Paul Pearson.

Ramon was born on October 4, 1927 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, to Noel E Curtis and Alta Berniece Ritchie Curtis. He grew up on farms in the Ucon and Iona area. He graduated from Iona High School in 1945.

Ramon served at the end of WWII in the United States Army from February 1946 to March 1947.

When he came home from the army, he enrolled at Ricks College where he met Wilma Grace Bird. Ramon and Wilma were married September 16, 1947 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They made their home in Iona, Grant, Idaho Falls, and Garfield, Idaho. Ramon and Wilma had nine children.

Ramon worked at many different professions during his life. He drove milk truck, worked as a mail carrier and in the radio alarm shop at the AEC (Atomic Energy Commission), was an engineer at KIFI and KID radio, owned a laundromat and a dairy farm, and founded Curtis Electric. During many of these jobs, he also did farming on the side. Ramon loved to work and enjoyed his work. He said he retired in 2003, but still continued to work for several more years until his sight began to fail him.

Ramon married Mary Lee Raybould Wolf July 5, 2000 in the Idaho Falls Temple. They made their home in Rexburg, Idaho. Ramon and Mary Lee served a mission to the Oakland California Temple Visitors’ Center in 2003-2004.

Ramon was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He had wonderful opportunities to serve others in many different positions: Sunday School Superintendent, Stake Mission President, Rigby East Stake and Rigby Stake High Council, Bishop, Aaronic Priesthood Advisor, High Priest Group Leader, Ricks College Third Stake High Council, Missionary, and Rexburg Temple Worker.

Ramon was a loving husband, a great father, a kind grandfather, and a thoughtful friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Ramon is survived by his wife, Mary Lee Raybould Wolf Curtis, Rexburg, ID; sons: Veral B. (Suzanne) Curtis, Stevenson, WA, Thayne R. (Catherine) Curtis, Meridian, ID, Stanton L. (Sheryl) Curtis, Phoenix, AZ, and Scott N. (Darla) Curtis, Rigby, ID; daughters: Maureen Curtis, St. George, UT, and Ramona (Paul) Pearson, Ucon, ID; 20 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson; sisters: Roma (LaVon) Messervy, Huntsville, AL, LaRaine Williams, Idaho Falls; and brothers: Theone (Kathleen) Curtis, Payson, UT, and William Curtis, Orem, UT.

Mary Lee’s children are Melody Yamauchi, Hilo, HI; Jim (Beth) Wolf, Colorado Springs, CO; Laurie (Neil) Nelson, Keizer, OR; Ken Wolf, Tekoa, WA; Angela (Allen) Morrison, Mesa, AZ; Dan (Nadya) Wolf, Sedona, AZ; Merrily (Robert) Escalante, Kurtistown, HI; Doug (Teresa) Bodily, West Jordan, UT; Amy (Larry) Archibald, Edmond, OK; Lucy (Matt) Ulrich, Mesa, AZ; and David (Jennifer) Wolf, Lacey, WA. Mary Lee has 36 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Ramon is preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Grace Bird Curtis; daughter, Colleen Curtis Halls; infant twin daughters, (Brenda and Glenda); his parents; a sister, Naomi Grantier; and Mary Lee’s daughter, Holly Wolf Bodily.

Services will be Monday April 20, 2015 at the Rexburg 6th Ward Chapel, 387 S. 4th E., Rexburg, Idaho at 11:00 am with Bishop Pat Bennett officiating. Visitation will be Sunday April 19, 2015 at Eckersell Memorial Chapel in Rigby Idaho from 5:00 pm till 7:00 pm. and prior to the services at 9:30 am. Interment is at the Ucon Cemetery.
