Rufus Birch Pike, 79, died Sunday, September 30 at 5:30 p.m. at his home in South Campbellsville following a heart attack. It was the second attack he had suffered within the past three weeks.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, October 2 at 2 p.m. from the Robinson Creek Baptist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The pallbearers were Claude Smith, Willie Peyton, Willie Matt Johns, Charlie Rexroat, Bennie Sprowles, and Henry Lewis.
Pike, son of the late William Pike and Jane Watson Pike, was born August 24, 1877 in Adair County, Ky.
He united in marriage to Mary Lucy Pike who preceded him in death on April 2, 1951. He was a member of the Robinson Creek Baptist Church. Survivors include three sons and one daughter, Bosley J. Pike, Phoenix, Arizona, Elbert Lewis Pike, Monticello, Raymond Leslie Pike, Campbellsville, and Mrs. Eva (Arvis) Bault, Edinburg, Indiana.
