GOLDEN - Merlene Beam, 77, died Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at the Daniel Health Care Complex. She was born Aug. 30, 1923, in Itawamba County to Earnest Sides and Fronie Ashley Sides. She was a homemaker and a member of Salem Baptist Church.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Senter Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Jackie Thompson, Tommy Waddle and Bro. Gene O'Brien officiating. Burial will be in Salem Cemetery.

Survivors include her husband, Wencil Beam of Golden; three daughters, Eloise Lindsey and husband, Daniel, Adoyce Yielding, and Bernie Hawkins and husband, James, all of Golden; a son, Wayne Beam of Golden; a sister, Olene Waddle of Golden; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Martha Beam; two sons-in-law, J. T. Wood and Eugene Yielding; and a brother, Bill Sides.

Pallbearers will be Tim Jetton, Danny Wood, Donnie Wood, Michael Beam, Billy Hawkins and Johnny Yielding.

Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today.
