Lloyd H. Glawe, age 77, of Holstein, passed away on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at the Good Samaritan Society of Holstein.

Lloyd H. Glawe was born June 22, 1937 to Ben and Effie (Thorberg) Glawe in Holstein, Iowa. He had one sister, Vernielle. Lloyd lost his parents as a young child and was raised by Hans and Anna Thomsen. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church where he has been a lifetime member. He attended various country schools in the area and graduated from Holstein High School in 1956, where he participated in football, basketball, track and choir.

On December 14, 1958 he married his high school sweetheart, Janith Williams at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church. The couple was blessed with two children, Carla and Mike.

Lloyd raised turkeys and was part owner of GGG, LLC Turkey Breeders, owned L & J Café with his wife, worked for Structural Design as a cabinet maker, then painted and refinished furniture for many people in the area.

Lloyd enjoyed playing horseshoes, cards, bowling and socializing. He and his wife enjoyed being part of the same couples card club for over 50 years. Lloyd was a dedicated member of the Holstein Hose Co. #1, serving as assistant chief and then chief for several years. He enjoyed dancing, mainly polkas and traveled with the Eddie Skeets Polka band to Germany and other European countries. Lloyd enjoyed fishing, and took several fishing trips to Canada with friends. He liked to take “family getaways” with his children and grandchildren as well. He loved to make peppernuts at Christmas time.

Lloyd passed away on April 14, 2015 surrounded by his family at the Good Samaritan Society at the age of 77. He was preceded in death by his parents; his guardians; his sister, Vernielle Hallengren; his parents-in-law, Jess and Minnie Williams; niece, Kathy Larson; nephew, Richard Hallengren; and many special friends.

Lloyd is survived by his wife, Janith of Holstein, Iowa; two children, Carla Eidenshink of Ida Grove and Mike (Jennifer) Glawe of Ida Grove; three grandchildren, Jessica (Travis) Pratt of Holstein, IA, Emily Glawe of Ida Grove, IA, Erin Glawe of Ida Grove, IA; sister-in-law, Judy Williams of Omaha, NE; brother-in-law, Duane Williams of Omaha, NE; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
