Maryesther Byrd, 79, Xenia, passed away Tuesday afternoon at Hospitality Home East. She was born July 29, 1919, in Jay County, Ind., the daughter of Russell and Mabel Shoemacher Luttman. She is survived by two daughters, Barbara J. Phipps, Xenia, and Judith A. Barnhart, Maysville, Ky,; four grandchildren, Steven Phipps, Betty Phipps, Kimberly Stewart, and Tammy Nagle; one great-granddaughter, Erica Nagle; a sister, Betty Baker, Portland, Ind.; and a close friend Midge Jamison, Fairborn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mahlon E. Byrd, July 14, 1981; a son, Richard E. Byrd; and a brother, Kenneth Luttman. Graveside services will be held at Woodland Cemetery, at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 7. There will be no visitation. Neeld Funeral is in charge of arrangements. Published in the Xenia Daily Gazette
