Jacqueline Delmar Abbott Zaun
Born in Richmond, Va. to George Wright Abbott (1882-1959) and Ida Rene Bryant (1868-1933). Married Earnest Earl Zaun on April 7, 1928. Moved to Norfolk, Va., in 1938, where "Ernie" worked at Dalton and Bundy Lumberyard as a bookkeeper. They lived in an apartment on 35th Street, and then a house on Newport Avenue in Norfolk. After their children were grown, she and Ernie bought a house on Witchduck Road in Virginia Beach. When "Ernie" died unexpectedly at age 49, she went to work in the lingerie department at Ames & Brownley Department Store in Norfolk.
She lived for a time with her daughter Gail in Virginia Beach, then moved to the Mayflower Apartment Building at the oceanfront in Virginia Beach. She worked at the front desk of the oceanfront branch of Virginia Beach Public Libraries for 19 years until she retired. Her last years were spent in a senior apartment at Luther Manor in Virginia Beach.

Virginia Beach- Jacqueline A. "Jack" Zaun, 88, died in her residence November 3, 1998.

She lived in Luther Manor for the last 16 years of her life. She was predeceased by her husband Ernest E. Zaun and her son, John Beverly Zaun.

Survivors include her daughter Gail Zaun Watson and husband, Joe; 5 grandchildren, Kathy Freeman, Glenn Watson, Sandi Bossons, Terry Austin and Holly Bernick; and 11 great grandchildren.

A graveside service will be conducted Sunday at 2pm in Rosewood Memorial Park by the Rev Gene Meek. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Francis Asbury U.M.C.Building Fund, 1871 N. Great Neck Road, Virginia Beach, 23454. Kellum Funeral Home, Rosewood Chapel, is handling arrangements.

In addition to the above she is survived by her daughter-in-law Virginia Zaun of Virginia Beach and great-grandchildren Adam, Josh, John, and Drew Austin of Virginia Beach, Justin, Reed and Leah Bernick of Virginia Beach, Laura, Paige and Will Freeman of Woodbridge VA, and Ben Watson of Hickory NC.
