Daniel G. Walker married Mary Jane Surber, daughter of Jacob and Nancy Waggoner Surber, on Nov. 8, 1838 in Botetourt Co., VA. They moved from VA to MO abt. 1838 and had eight children: John William (born Nov. 13, 1839; died 16 Dec. 1899 Mesquite, Dallas Co., TX--1859 Macon Co., MO married Sarah Henrietta Lister born Sept. 3, 1839; died Dec. 27, 1909 Dallas, Dallas Co., TX); George Washington; Sarah Malinda; Martha "Mattie" Ann; Asenath (?) Amanda E.(born 1848 and died Jan. 30, 1879--married Philip Rowland Smith); Charles Green; Mary Emaline (born Mar. 11, 1852--married Edward R. Montgomery and moved to Mantattan, KS); and Louisa Jane. Daniel died Aug. 2, 1855/1856. In the 1860 Federal Census of Macon Co., MO Ten Mile Twp., Mary J. Walker is listed as head of household--widow--with seven children. Daniel is buried in the old "Surber Cemetery" east of Kellogg. His parents-in-law, Jacob and Nancy Waggoner Surber, are also buried there.
