From Bellwood Bulletin June 26 1930
Died in Pittsburgh: Mrs. Mary Jane Davis, widow of James Davis, for many years a well known resident of Bellwood, died at the Baptist Home for the Aged, Pittsburgh, on Monday, where she had been a guest for three years. Mrs. Davis was s daughter of Enoch and Maria Farnsworth born at Roots Dam, Pa April 20. 1841. Since her youth she has been a member of the Baptist church, for many years being active in Logan Valley Baptist church. Mrs. Davis was widely known for her fine needle work and quilting, in, which she was a expert. Surviving are two sons: Samuel M. Davis, Bellwood; William A. Davis, Altoona; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother and two sisters: Joseph Farnsworth, in Canada; Mrs. Maggie Hannah, Allemansville; Mrs. Lyda Sneath, Bellwood. The body arrived in Bellwood on Tuesday and was taken to the Fuoss and Glass funeral home on Main street. Services were held in the Logan Valley. Baptist church, of which she had been life long member, Wednesday at 1 o'clock, conducted by the pastor. Rev. H. G. Dooley, after which the remains were taken to Utahville, Clearfield county, where interment was made.

The family home was located the junction of highway 253 (road from Allemansville) and highway 453 (Jamesville Pike). Was told by a local relative that this location was known as Davis Hill.

A family story told to great grand children was she was on horseback carrying her son Willian Absalom and a wolf or something came out of the woods and started following her. She took the blanket she had covering the baby and thru it and put the horse into a gallop and she got away as the animal went to examine the blanket.

This was confirmed in the year 2000 when a descendant of her sister Margaret Farnsworth Hanna told the same story and she had the details. Mary Jane was visiting her sister in Allemansville and on her return to Davis Hill a catamount came out of the woods and caused the incident.

Sometimes Mary Jane and her daughter in law had some some disagreements. Minnie Davis thought she was a bit of a woodsy. She may have been one. There was a record of the 33 moves the Farnsworth clan made to saw mill locations were her father Enoch would do his work.
