Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 p.m., Sunday, from the Marshall-Smith-Funeral Home for Mrs. Hannah Elizabeth Sheard, 88, widow of John M. Sheard, 317 W High St., who died at 6:30 p.m., last Thursday, in McCullough-Hyde Memorial Hospital. She had been a patient there since early September.

Rev. Leonard S. Confar, pastor of the Oxford Methodist Church, was the officiating minister and burial took place in Oxford Cemetery.

A life-long resident of Oxford Township, Mrs. Sheard had lived at 317 W. High St., since 1907. Her husband, for many years a member of the Oxford Fire Department and for several years a village councilman, was a meter reader for the Cincinnati Gas and Electric Co. in Oxford for many years.

Mrs. Sheard was born Dec. 2, 1875, in Oxford Township, daughter of William and Hannah E. Booth Null. She was married to John M. Sheard in Oxford Township on Jan. 5, 1898, and they had spent more than 65 years of happy married life together. Mr. Sheard died June 8, 1963.

She was a life member of the Oxford Methodist Church and a member of the Woman's Society for Christian Service of her church. She enjoyed friends and family, and she was happiest in the presence of her children and grandchildren.

Mrs. Sheard leaves a daughter, Mrs. Hazel Moore, Oxford Press bookkeeper; two sons, Mark Sheard, manager of the Cincinnati Gas and Electric Company, Oxford office, and Russell Sheard, all of Oxford; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Mary Null; a devoted sister-in-law, Mrs. Cora Null, both of Oxford; other relatives and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Sheard Woodruff, in 1948; a sister, Mrs. Belle Sheard, 1946, and two brothers, John Null and George Null.

Pall bearers were Bill Sheard, John Sheard and Eddie Woodruff, all grandsons; Larry Gulley and Tom Study, husbands of grand daughters, and Clifford Sheard, nephew.
