Born in Hamburg, Nov. 1, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Oscar E. and Mamie M. Schaeffer Clay. She was the widow of Lloyd D. Grube.
She attended Orwigsburg School and graduated from Auburn High School. She was employed as a machine operator at the former Leiningers Knitting Mill, Orwigsburg, for more than 30 years and retired in 1983.
Doris was a member of Christ Church McKeansburg.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Travis James Grube; brothers, Harold and Claude Clay; a sister, Leona Smith
Doris is survived by a daughter, Diana L., wife of Brian Folk; five sons, Larry K. Grube, husband of Lydia, Martin D. Grube, husband of Connie, Kenneth G. Grube and life partner, Karen Moore, Vernon D. Grube, husband of Mary Jo, and Randy T. Grube, husband of Tina; two sisters, Ruth, widow of Robert Breon, and Marion, widow of Leon Reager; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.
Religious services were held at Hamilton Funeral Home Inc., Orwigsburg, with the Rev. Sunny L. Stock officiating. Interment was in Schuylkill Memorial Park Inc., Schuylkill Haven.
