Gladys E. Wales July 8, 1925 - April 9, 2015 DOWAGIAC - Gladys E. Wales, 89, of Dowagiac, died Thursday, April 9, 2015, at Lakeland Regional Medical Center. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Monday, April 13, 2015, at Clark Chapel, 405 Center St., Dowagiac, with Pastor Melody Wallace officiating. Visitation 10:00 A.M. until time of service. Burial will follow at Mission Hills Cemetery in Niles. Memorial donations may be made to First Christian Church, 201 Oak St., Dowagiac, or to Cass County Council on Aging. Those wishing to leave a memory of Gladys online may do so at www.clarkch.com. Gladys was born July 8, 1925, in Bridgman, Michigan, to William C. and Zelma (Mead) Johns. She married her beloved husband, Charles H. Wales, on July 26, 1941, in Wauseon, Ohio. Gladys attended First Christian Church with her family. She loved cooking and baking and prided herself on her homemade pies. Gladys enjoyed being outdoors, especially taking walks or bicycle rides every day. She adored her family and cherished the time she spent with them. Gladys is survived by her daughter, Elaine (Donald) Bayles of Niles; son, Gary Wales of Dowagiac; grandchildren, Jason (Claudine) Bayles, Justin (Laurie) Bayles and Jeremy Bayles, all of Niles; great-grandchildren, Charles, Westin, Jaden, Tina, Claudine and Melissa. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, siblings, Robert Johns, Mary Shafer, Ruby Critzer and Wanda Baker.
