Born June 25, 1921 in Lytle, Montana to Harry Walter and Ethel Mae Doheny. Married John Raymond Eklund in Salt Lake City. Member, Catholic Church, St. Ann's Parish. Joan taught special education for a number of years, embraced the hearts of her dear students and treasured the friendship of her fellow teachers. Joan devoted countless hours of volunteer work in Salt Lake City government and loved helping the public. She was very active in the 49ers Club and an avid bowler twice a week with the Catholic Women's League and the 49ers. Joan was also a big Jazz fan and got an assist in their win last Friday. Her friends meant the world to her and she had more energy than someone half her age.
