--Janette Cooper, 58, Clarence, died Sunday, May 21, 2006, at 2:30 p.m. at her residence.

--She was born September 4, 1947, in Kirksville, MO, the daughter of Estel Francis and Mary Jane Foreman Gaines.

--She married Roy Noel Patterson on June 13, 1965. He died on October 29, 1966. She married Larry William Cooper on September 23, 1967 at her parents' home west of Shelbyville. He survives.

--Other survivors include two sons, Darren W. Cooper, Hendersonville, NV and Brian "B.J." Cooper, Hurst, TX; her parents, Estel and Mary Jane Gaines, Shelbyville; two brothers, Robert Gaines and James Gaines, both of Shelbyville; one sister, Jo Anne Thrasher, Shelbyville; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

--She was preceded in death by her first husband; one brother, Kenneth Gaines; and her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Gaines and Mr. and Mrs. Vincil Foreman.

--Mrs. Cooper was a 1965 graduate of North Shelby High School. She was employed by the Division of Work Force Development for the State of Missouri since 1987. She was a member of the First Christian Church of Clarence and the Clarence VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed boating, reading, playing the piano and organ, and painting, but most of all, spending time with her family and friends.

--Funeral services were Wednesday, May 24, at the First Christian Church in Clarence with Chuck Embree and Jamie Franke officiating. Burial followed in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.

--The family suggests memorials to the Janette Cooper Memorial Fund to benefit local charities and organizations.
