Denise June Edwards was born in OKC on May 11, 1957 to Jim and June Melton. She passed away on May 31, 2006 from complications of 40 years of Juvenile Diabetes. Denise life long battle with diabetes never stopped her joy for life. She always looked to help others. She drove Mobile Meals for 20 years, and worked on the JDF walk committee for many years. She hoped that they would find a cure for this terrible disease in her lifetime. Denise was also a big part of the Lions Club working with disabled teen parties and shopping for families at Christmas that would have nothing for Christmas. She also worked to promote the Run for Life for Organ Sharing Awareness. She worked for Union Mutual Insurance for 23 years and currently with Gateway Com for 4 years. She is survived by her Husband, Ken, Mother, June McKim, Brothers, Dennis and his wife Lillie, Terry and his wife Susan, and Kelly, numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her Father, James Melton, Stepfather, Bill McKim, Brother Mike McKim, Grandparents Erma and Alva Ragan. Visitation will be Friday at Chapel Hill Funeral Home from noon until 9PM. Memorial Services will be 11:30 AM, Saturday June 3, 2006 at Pennsylvania United Methodist Church, 1320 N. Penn. OKC, OK. In Lieu of flowers donations may be made to Juvenile Diabetes Association and LifeShare of Oklahoma.
