Maurice D. 'Perry' Cowan

MONTICELLO — Maurice D. "Perry" Cowan, 79, of 184 W. Navajo Drive, West Lafayette, died at 7:45 a.m. Thursday in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette.

Born April 24,1911, in Montgomery County, he was the son of William E. and Ida E. Sanders Cowan. On June 11, 1938, in Indianapolis, he was married to H. Eileen York, who survives.

He had lived in West Lafayette for 10 years, moving from Atlanta, Ga. He lived most of his life in Indianapolis. He was employed 42 years by Phillips Petroleum Co., retiring in 1975. He was a member of Waynetown United Methodist Church. He graduated from Waynetown High School in 1929 and Indiana University in 1933.

Also surviving are one son, Walter Y., Hermitage, Pa.; one brother, Lawrence E., Indianapolis; one sister, Mary E. Dazey, Crawfordsville; and three granddaughters.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Riverview Cemetery, with the Rev. Bruce Mowery officiating.

Friends may call from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday in Miller-Voorhis Funeral Home.
