4/26/1925 – 4/2/2015
In the early morning of Thursday April 2, 2015, Eileen ("Polly") O'Brien Bohnert peacefully departed this life at Duke University Medical Center, Durham, NC, at the age of 89.
Eileen, daughter of the late Lee and Mary Tower, was born April 26, 1925 in Dillon, MT.
Known as "Polly", Eileen was the youngest of four children and married the love of her life, Ray, shortly after graduating high school. Polly was a proud homemaker and mother for years and truly cherished the opportunity to be at home to raise her daughter, Judy. Polly then ventured into a career in law enforcement and, in the latter years, served as a probation officer for Placer County.
Polly was a devout Catholic and member of the St. Teresa of Avila Parish, Atwood Rd, where she served in the choir, thrift shop, and several other ministries. Throughout her life in Auburn, Polly found joy in fellowship with friends and family, playing golf, daily crossword puzzles, and was a Scrabble enthusiast. She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.
Polly moved to North Carolina in 2011 to reconnect with her grandchildren and felt tremendous joy being close to them.
Polly was known to be a passionate, spirited, and resilient woman by all those she knew. She was a woman of strong faith and was deeply devoted to her friends and family. Her life surpassed that of many loved ones, including her husband, Raymond William Bohnert, and daughter, Judith Marie Dossary.
Among those left to cherish her memory are four grandchildren, Michelle German (Stuart), Fort Myers, FL, Jason Dossary, Raleigh, NC, Kristin (Kevin) Thomas, Durham, NC, Katherine Dossary, Raleigh, NC and five great-grandchildren, Devin, Dylan, Leila, Gabriel, and Nadia.
Visitation will be held on Friday, April 10, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Teresa of Avila at 11600 Atwood Rd, Auburn, CA. Funeral and burial services will immediately follow at 12:00PM.
