The Murray family moved to Freestone County from Cherokee County around 1869. His wife's name was Elizabeth and they had the following children: William G., Charles, Alice, Maryetta, Virginia Lee, and Annabel. The Fairfield Masonic Lodge records show his death in 1872. They owned the property directly next to the W.L. Moody Reunion Grounds and the Fairfield Female College. Sometime after 1880, the family moved to Houston. In 1904, their son William sold the property to the Manahan family.
