MITCHELL DON MOORE
September 20, 1961 ~ December 4, 2012
"His contagious smile, genuine kindness,
and God loving spirit touched the hearts
of all that knew him. He will be greatly missed."
On December 4, 2012, Mitchell went home to his eternal Heaven to be with Jesus at the young age of 51. Mitch graduated from Naselle High School in 1979.
He began working in public service in 1980 as a Utility Service Worker for City of Woodland, WA where he worked for nine years. In 1989, Mitch began working for City of Vancouver and for his 23 years there, he was always committed to the citizens he served and the employees he supervised. He was a very well respected manager and developed many friendships over the years.
Mitch loved spending time with family and friends, camping, hiking, climbing, hunting, dirt bike and motorcycle riding. His pride and joy was a shiny black and chrome Harley Davidson Street Glide. It was amazing that there was any paint left on it for all the time he dusted, cleaned, polished and waxed it! He also enjoyed barbequing for family and friends with his famous red oak bark that everyone loved. Best smoked steaks and burgers ever!
Survivors include his loving wife of 11 years, Julie; father, David; sons, Nicholas and Dustin (Laura Yeo); sister, Kelly (Kevin) Karnoski; uncle, Randy (Doreen) Van Stane; and many other relatives, nephews, nieces, cousins and friends, too numerous to mention, that also loved him. Mitch also leaves behind two loving, faithful dogs, Madison and Cody.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Ann Moore, in 2010.
A Celebration of Life service to honor Mitch's beautiful life will be held at Meadow Glade Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 11001 NE 189th St., Battle Ground, WA, at 11:00 a.m. on Sun., Dec. 16, 2012. Everyone is welcome.
In lieu of flowers, please honor Mitch by donating to either Doernbecher Children's Hospital or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Arrangements entrusted to Vancouver Funeral Chapel.
