"Robert K. Lutes"

"Robert K. Lutes, 79, south Kansas City, died Sept. 30, 1991, at Saint Joseph Health Center. He was born in Freeport, Ill., and moved from Belleville, Ill. to this area in 1947. Mr. Lutes was an instructor and communications engineer for the Hoffmann Aircraft Co. for five years, retiring in 1976. Earlier he worked for the Bendix Kansas City Division for 10 years. During World War II he was an aviation communications instructor at Scott Air Force Base, Ill. He was a member of the Countryside United Methodist Church, where he taught the senior adult Sunday school and was a former member of the choir. He was a former member of the Cleveland Avenue and Aldersgate United Methodist churches and was a youth teacher for them. He received a bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Dubuque, Iowa, in 1933, and bachelor's degree in engineering from the University of Iowa, Iowa City, in 1935. Survivors include his wife, Roberta S. Lutes of the home; two sons, Eugene Neil Lutes, Belton, and Donald Robert Lutes, Mountain Grove, Mo.; a sister, Del Lutes, Chicago; and four grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Countryside United Methodist Church; burial in Floral Hills Cemetery. Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. today at the Hinton Chapel. The family suggests contributions to the Countryside church memorial fund."
