Born April 21, 1941 (along with her twin brother, Paul ) in Rice Lake to Michael J. and Laurene (Morneau) Sirek, Phyllis lived with her family on a dairy farm outside of Rice Lake.
After graduating from Rice Lake High School in 1959, she went to nurses' training at Miller Hospital in St. Paul, and graduated as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She met Bob Denison at her brother Mike's wedding reception dance, and told her friend Janet that she "would marry that man." She practiced nursing back in Rice Lake while they dated, fell in love, and married on June 10, 1961 at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Dobie, WI. Less than a year later, Colleen Rose was born; another year later Deborah Laurene was born; and in July, 1964, they were blessed with Richard Robert.
After a few years with three toddlers, Joan Marie was born. They outgrew their small home in St. Paul, and moved to Maplewood. Bob's career was thriving, and Phyllis went back to work part-time at a Family Practice clinic near their home. Bob and Phyllis had an active and busy lifestyle; they sang in the church choir, bowled and square-danced, traveled with family and friends, and spent summers on Long Lake at their cabin. Phyllis loved music, and played the organ until her fingers no longer could.
When Bob retired at 3M, they put they sold their house, tore down the cabin, and built the home of their dreams on Long Lake. Here is where Phyllis had more time to do the things she enjoyed: paint, garden, bowl, quilt, sew, upholster furniture, play her organ, snowmobile in the winter, and pontoon in the summer. She also enjoyed her grandchildren, and shared a special relationship with each of them. She loved having weekends with just her grand-girls and just her grand-boys. She has now gone home to the loving arms of her gracious God.
Phyllis is survived by her husband Bob, of Stone Lake; 4 children: Colleen Denison (Pat Botten), Mahtomedi, MN; Deborah Denison (Ken Chapman), Maple Grove, MN; Richard (Marcia) Denison, Woodbury, MN; and Joan Denison, Stone Lake; 10 grandchildren: Marijo, Carley, Macey, Evan, Derrick, Tyler (Jacki), Ryan, Ross, Tabitha, and Tessa; and 1 great-granddaughter, Rosalie.
