Edwin R. Bonk, 53, of 2111 S. 10th St., Manitowoc, died Friday at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, after a lingering illness.
Funeral services will be at 1030 a.m. Monday at Pfeffer Funeral Home and at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Manitowoc. The Rev. D. L. Krembs will officiate and burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Manitowoc.
Mr. Bonk was born July 14, 1914, at Two Rivers, son of the late Joseph and Tekla Plotke Bonk. He attended Sacred Heart parochial school and was a graduate of Washington High School, Two Rivers. He married June Stephani Aug. 13, 1938, at Merrill, and the couple lived at Two Rivers and moved to Manitowoc in 1945. He worked for Heresite and Chemical Co.
for 14 years and for Manitowoc Shipbuilding Inc., until illness forced his retirement in 1965. He belonged to Eagles Aerie No. 706 and Boilermakers Local 443.
Survivors include the wife; a son, Robert, of Manitowoc; five sisters, Mrs. Agnes Bialkowski and Mrs. Thomas Gauthier of Manitowoc, Mrs. Emil Garcia of Chicago, Mrs. Julia Orth of Kenosha and Sister M. Elaine of Niles,
Ill.; and two granddaughters. A sister preceded him in death.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 3 p.m. where at 6 p.m. an Eagles memorial will be conducted and at 7 p.m the Rosary will be recited.
