MONTEZUMA, GA - Mrs. Rosa Deal Roberts, age 89, of Montezuma, GA, passed away Sunday, April 05, 2015 at The Oaks Nursing and Personal Care Home.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Montezuma United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends immediately after the service in the sanctuary. The family may be contacted at the home of Mrs. Roberts, 304 Leon Ave. in Montezuma.

Mrs. Roberts was born January 31, 1926 in Headland, AL, to the late William Pryor Deal and Anna Pearl Brannon Deal. She lived in Moultrie, GA and Oglethorpe, GA before finally moving to Montezuma, GA, where she graduated from the Montezuma High School in 1943. She married the love of her life, Bill Roberts, in 1950. Mrs. Roberts was a bank teller and bookkeeper before becoming a full-time homemaker.

She was also a very devoted member of Montezuma United Methodist Church, the United Methodist Women, and the Philathea Sunday School Class. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and was a caregiver to many family members.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Roberts, and several siblings: Bernice Murphy, Rupert Deal, Doris Smith, Heyward Deal, Myrtle Horne, Elizabeth Kenney, Richard Deal, and Miriam Andrews.

Mrs. Roberts is survived by her two daughters: Connie Roberts (Johnny) Payne of Montezuma, GA, and Angie Roberts (Lyle) Newkirk of Atlanta, GA; four grandchildren: Scott Payne and Allison Payne of Montezuma, GA, and William Newkirk and Mary Beth Newkirk of Atlanta, GA; and three great-grandsons: John Roberts Payne, Theron Payne, and Logan Payne. She also leaves behind one sister, Sylvia Deal Kopp of Macon, GA, and one brother, Larry (Joyce) Deal of Athens, GA.
