Edward F. Decker, age 86, a Manitowoc resident was called to heaven on Friday afternoon, June 12, 2015 at his home.
Ed was born December 28, 1928 in the town of Kossuth, son of the late Edward and Emily (Stodola) Decker. On September 12, 1953 he married the former Elizabeth Kozaczuk at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Clarks Mills. She preceded him in death on January 8, 1993. Ed worked as a pipe fitter for 42 years at the Mirro Company before retiring in 1994. He served in the Korean War with the United States Army and was a member of the Kellnersville VFW. Ed was a member of the Local 516 Steelworkers Union, was a volunteer for Red Cross, and was associated with Meals on Wheels for 20 years.. He was also an avid hunter and fisherman.
Survivors include three grandchildren: Mandi and Mike Sveom, Shannon Meisner-Clark and her husband Josh Clark, and Casey Meisner, all of Manitowoc; five great-grandchildren: Mason and Madalynn Sveom, Caitlin Rowland, Jordan Meisner, and Alyssa Clark; one brother and sister-in-law: Robert and Shirley Decker; and three sisters: Rose Tadych and Marion Lorenz, both of Francis Creek, and Beatrice Tomczuk, Mesa, Arizona. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive.
He was also preceded in death by his daughter and son-in-law: Debra and August Meisner; two brothers: James and William Decker; one sister and four brothers-in-law: Emily and Charles Kozaczuk, Alois Tadych, Elmer Lorenz, and Richard Tomczuk.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Dave Pleier with entombment to follow at Knollwood Mausoleum, town of Kossuth.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:30 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2015 at St. Francis of Assisi on Marshall.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
The family wishes to thank Holy Family Hospice, especially Kim and Rachel, for the wonderful support and care given to Ed during the last two weeks of his life.
