Son of the late Senator Horace W. Schantz and the late Mamie (Hartman) Schantz and husband of the late Annetta L. (Keck) Schantz. He was a 1936 graduate of Emmaus High School and a 1937 graduate of Perkiomen Prep School. He attended the University of Wisconsin and graduated from the former Eckels College of Mortuary Science in 1939. He was the owner/operator of Horace W. Schantz Funeral Home from 1945 to 1986.
