Ruth Leonore DeWoody, 87, formerly of 1212 Chestnut St., died at 2 a.m. Saturday, May 14, 1994, in Grandview Health Care, Oil City, where she lived since January 1993. Born Aug. 7, 1906, in Five Points, she was a daughter of Lauren and Pearl Beach DeWoody.
She was a graduate of Rocky Grove High School, worked at General Mainfold & Printing Co. for many years, was a member of the First Church of God, Seventh Street.
She was married in 1928 to Clair Wayne DeWoody, who died in 1937.
Surviving are a son, Clyde E. DeWoody of Reno; three grandchildren, Clyde E. DeWoody Jr. of Sprout Spring, VA, Dennis DeWoody of Pittsburgh and Keith L. DeWoody of Atlanta, GA; four great-grandchildren, Joshua DeWoody of Atlanta, GA, Jessica DeWoody and Joe King, both of Sprout Springs, VA, and Becky DeWoody of Clarion; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a son, LaVern DeWoody, and a brother, Paul DeWoody.
Services will be held at Huff Chapel with Rev. Robert L. Goodnough, pastor of the First Church of God, Seventh Street, officiating. Interment will follow in the Hickory Grove Cemetery in Victory Twonship.
