LaVerne A. DeWoody, 55, of 225 Maple St., died at 3:45 pm Sunday in Franklin Regional Medical Center. He was born Oct. 23, 1930 in Franklin, son of Clair and Ruth L. DeWoody DeWoody.
He worked as a tool and die maker and foreman at Shaw Industries. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and was an avid hunter and bowler.
On Jan. 12, 1950, he married Delores Dunlap, who survives, with two sons, Tim DeWoody of Oil City, and Dan DeWoody of Franklin; his mother of Franklin; maternal grandmother, Mrs. Pearl DeWoody of Grove City; brother, Clyde DeWoody of Reno; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Lauren. Deceased is his father Clair DeWoody.
Services will be at 1:30 pm Wednesday at Gardinier Funeral Home with Rev. William Davis of Allegheny Wesleyan Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in Franklin Cemetery.
