Robert J. Smith of Bremen, passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015 at his residence. He was born in Haralson County, August 31, 1943, son of the late Herman Smith and Rosie Cline Smith. Mr. Smith was a retired employee of the Hubbard Company and a member of the Welcome Hill Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Myrtle Lepard, Iver Griffith, Emma Gene Smith Collins, Elvie Smith, Sara Meeks; brothers, Edward Smith, J. C. Smith, Luther Smith and Earl Smith.
Survivors include his wife, Jeannette Hulsey Smith of Bremen; children, Debra and Philip Carroll, Bremen, Andy and Merideth Smith of Ranburne, AL, Christina and Jamie Fitzgerald of Bremen; (9) grandchildren, (12) great grandchildren, (3) great, great grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Smith of Bremen and brother, Freddie Smith of Buchanan.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Sunday from 6:00 until 9:00 PM.
Services will be Monday, April 6 at 2:00 PM from the chapel of Hightower Funeral Home with Reverend John Lemmings and Reverend Kenny Gray officiating. Music will be furnished by Bonnie Sanders. Jamie Fitzgerald, Jody Strickland, Dobie Smith, Sid Meeks, Greg Maner, Jonathan Fisher, Jeff Maner, Greg Walker and Brad Puckett will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow in the Corinth Baptist Church Cemetery.
