Daniel F. Shine, Sr. died peacefully Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro with his family by his side. He was 95.

Born in New Brunswick he had lived in Manasquan and Edison before moving to Monroe Township in 1975. He had served both labor and management at Johnson and Johnson in North Brunswick where he served as president of TWUA Local #630 and as manager of wage relations retiring in 1983 after 43 years of service.

Mr. Shine was a World War II veteran of the United States Army serving as a medic with the 87th Infantry Division in France and Germany. He participated in the Battle of the Bulge.

He was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church in North Brunswick. He had served on the boards of the United Fund, Red Cross, Raritan Credit Board and the Johnson and Johnson Blood Bank. He was a member of the Yorston's Athletic Club where he was well known for his talents as a first baseman. He was an avid fan of the NY Rangers, Yankees and Rutgers Football.

His wife of 60 years, Thelma (Daley) Shine, died in 2004. He was also predeceased by his parents - John and Margaret (Byers) Shine, two brothers - Paul and John Shine; and his sister Rita Franklin. Surviving are his son Dan Shine, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Milltown; and his beloved granddaughter Danielle Shine of Milltown.

Funeral services will be 10:45 AM Tuesday from Selover Funeral Home, 555 Georges Road, North Brunswick followed by an 11:30 AM Mass at Our Lady of Peace R.C. Church in North Brunswick. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery in New Brunswick. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home Monday from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of Peace Church, 277 Washington Place, North Brunswick, NJ 08902.
