BIG STONE GAP, Va. - Paul Edward Ayers, 54, passed away Monday (July 16, 2007) at Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap.
Paul lived most of his life in Big Stone Gap and was Operation's Director of Suburban Services in Big Stone Gap. He was a member of Lonesome Pine Country Club in Big Stone Gap and was of Pentecostal faith.
Paul was an avid drag racer and was a member of the Suburban Racing Team. He also enjoyed bowling and golf.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John L. and Ada G. (Short) Ayers; and a sister, Joyce Stansberry.
Surviving are his wife, Judy R. Ayers; his daughter, Crystal Stidham, of Big Stone Gap; three grandchildren, Justin Stidham, Audra Bledsoe and Brentyn Parker; ten brothers, John L. Ayers, Sr., William Ayers, Gene Ayers, Jerry Ayers, Dennis Ayers, and Roger Ayers, all of Big Stone Gap, Joe Ayers of Richmond, Va., Larry Ayers of Valparaiso, Ind., David Ayers of Dayton, Ohio and James Ayers of Maryville, Calif.; two sisters, Margaret Terry and Mary Calloway, both of Big Stone Gap; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Holding Funeral Home in Big Stone Gap.
Services will be conducted at 8 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Roy Smith officiating.
An interment service will be 11 a.m. Friday in the Powell Valley Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.
