The eighth of thirteen children, Charles was born on his family's farm in Trent, Texas. He has now joined our Lord in Heaven, and been reunited with Viola, the love of his life for over 60 years. After briefly serving with the CCC, he enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1939. He served honorably in WWII and the Korean War, before retiring in 1960 as a Command Sergeant Major.
Upon moving to Austin in 1961, he began a new career in security at the State Capital Building. He retired from the State of Texas at the rank of Captain in 1977, to enjoy more time with his family.
Mr. Bright is survived by his two sons, Charles Jr. and wife, Judy, and Daniel and wife, Susan. He has five grandchildren, Sarah, Mary, Adrian and wife, Jessica, Aaron and wife, Sharon, and Tracy Brown and husband, Korey. He also has four great- grandchildren, Rachel and Christina Brown and Priscilla and Annabelle Bright.
Visitation was on Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at the Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home in Pflugerville. Funeral services were Wednesday, May 31, 2006, in the Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. Interment with military honors followed at Cook- Walden/Capital Parks Cemetery. [Based on an obituary published 29 May 2006 in the Austin American-Statesman.
