Mae Lavern Cox, age 78 of Odessa passed from this life on Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at Deerings Nursing Home.

She was born Friday, May 8, 1936, in Mcadoo, Texas to the late Joseph Benjamin and Lydia Mae (Bradford) Rich.

Little children were Lavern's pride and joy. She enjoyed sitting with them and taking care of them.

Lavern loved roses and planting flowers. She enjoyed getting out of her house to go shopping and was a fanatic for garage sales. She also enjoyed just sitting and talking with friends.

Lavern married Joe B. Cox on March 12, 1962 in Odessa. He preceded her in death in 1996.

She is also preceded in death by one stepson: Joe C. Cox, one son: Jay Cox; one sister: Jewel Stephenson; three brothers: Bill Rich, Joe Rich, and William Rich.

She is also preceded in death by one grandson: Joseph Cox.

Graveside services are scheduled for 1:00 pm, Tuesday, March 31, 2015, at Rose Hill Gardens section of Ector County Cemetery
