Margaret Ellen Harkrader was born March 13th, 1858 at Industry, McDonald County, Ill., and passed away at her home in Waukee, Jan. 4,1934 at the age of 75 years, 9 months and 21 days. At the age of ten she moved to Carthage, Mo., with her father, her mother having passed away when she was three years old. When she was eighteen she came to Dallas County, Iowa, where she has spent the remainder of her life in and near Waukee. She was united in marriage to Samuel Albert Stump August 13, 1827. This being the first wedding to take place in Waukee. To this union was born 3 children, F.R. Stump and Mrs. H. D. Aldrich, both of Waukee and one son, George , who preceded her May 9, 1894 at the age of 12 years.

She leaves to mourn her loss a devoted husband and her two children, nine granchildren, eleven great grandchildren, three brothers, John R. Harkrader of Adel; Granville J. of Tonkawa, Oklahoma; James V. Harkrader of Pratt, Kansas. Two sisters, Mrs. Myrtle DeCamp of Des Moines; Mrs. Bertha Franklin of Adel; nieces and nephews and a host of close friends. She united with the Church of Christ in Waukee under the ministry of Ivan Young and remained a faithful member of the church until her death.
