RIFLE--Richard H. Estes, 67, a Rifle resident for 66 years, died at 5 p.m. Tuesday in the Rifle Community Hospital. Formerly owner and manager of the Estes Trucking Co., he retired two years ago when his son took over management of the firm. Mr. Estes had long been active in community affairs and was a member of the Christian Church, Bookcliff Lodge 45 and the Rifle Encampment of the IOOF. Lodge, the Paradise Valley chapter of the Izaak Walton League and the Elizabeth chapter, Rebekah Lodge. Born in Columbus, Kan., on March 21, 1891, he came to Colorado with his parents, Reuben and Jerushia Markland Estes, pioneer citizens. He was married in Glenwood Springs on Nov. 30, 1910, to the former Grace Clair Corley. The couple farmed on Taughenbaugh Mesa until 1936 when they moved to Rifle to establish the livestock hauling firm. Surviving in addition to Mrs. Estes, are two sons, Oliver and Lesley Estes, and a daughter, Mrs. Nelle Walker, all of Rifle; a brother, Bryan Estes of San Diego, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Lola Gardner of Rifle and six grandchildren. Funeral arrangements will be announced by the Peltier-Sowder Funeral Home.

RIFLE--Funeral services for Richard H. Estes, will be held at 2:30 p.m. Friday in the First Christian Church. The Rev. Otto B. Duckworth will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery. Mr. Estes, who was 67 years old, was owner and former manager of the Estes Trucking Co. He had been a resident of the Rifle area for 66 years.
