Ruby Gamarino age 92 of Brockport, Pa; died peacefully Sunday afternoon January 27, 2013 at the DuBois Regional Medical Center surrounded by her family. She was born December 14, 1920 in Ridgway, Pa; the daughter of the late Joseph and Sadie Steis.

A graduate of St. Leo's School, she worked at Stackpole Carbon for four years, at the 5 and 10 Store in Ridgway for 3 years and at Brockway Glass for for 3 years. She was married to Carl Gamarino on June 24, 1950 at St. Leo's church in Ridgway.

They started a successful construction business where she was the bookkeeper. She also owned the Pizza Castle on Boot Jack for many years. Along with her sisters, they delighted customers with their delicious pizza and hoagies. Her homemade buns and original hoagie sauce was infamous.

Ruby was a member of the Holy Cross Church in Brandy Camp. She was also a member of the Rosary Society, the Horton Twp./Brockway Area Lions Club and was an Election Judge for Horton Township many years. Often referred to as the "Legend of Brockport", she loved people and was everyones friend. She loved kids, especially her two grandsons and her many nieces and nephews. Although she wasn't Italian, she was one of the last of the great Italian cooks, making home-made pasta, ravioli and polenta. She loved polka parties, playing canasta with her family, playing bingo at the church and playingthe slots at the casino.

She is survived by one son, Carl Alexander "Butch" Gamarino and his wife Dineen of Brockport, two grandsons Carl Joseph "CJ" and Stephen Michael. Two sisters Mabel Bates of Pittsburgh and Jospehine Fasenmyer of Warren and many Nieces and Nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, she is preceeded in death by three brothers; Howard, Clifford and Glenn Steis and three sisters; Grace Patterson, Pearl Peterson and Geraldine Raubenstrauch.
