Vivian B. Parks, 68, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord Sunday, June 22, 2003. She was born in Marion, Va. February 26, 1935, daughter of the late James and Lockie Blevins Blankenbeckler.
She was recently preceded in death by her beloved husband of 49 years, Jesse Raymond "Tommy" Parks. She was also predeceased by three brothers, Ellis, Glen and Maurice Blankenbeckler, a sister Mary Ruth McGrady.
Mrs. Parks retired from the Downtown Leggetts after many years of service. She was a member of Oakland Baptist Church.
She is survived by two brothers, William Lee Blankenbeckler and his wife, Grethel of Elliston, George M. Blankenbeckler of Tucson, Ariz.; one sister, Martha B. Richards and her husband, James of Salem; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A committal service will take place 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 24, 2003 in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. Memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday at Oakland Baptist Church with the Rev. Kelly H. Dampeer officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Oakey's North Chapel.
