Jose Luis Abreu died peacefully in his home on March 25, 2015. He was 87 and lived a full life.

Jose was born on October 24, 1927 to his parents, Trina H. and Luis Abreu. He lived nearly half of his life in Agramonte, Cuba and immigrated to the United States in September 1966. He moved to Amite in 1967 and married Carmen Faraminan on December 16, 1972.

He worked at Dibert, Bancroft & Ross Company for many years and retired as a machinist from Amite Foundry & Machine in December 2000. Jose was a patient and loving man with a great love for his family, friends and neighbors.

Jose is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Carmen Luisa Faraminan Abreu; daughter, Cristina Maria Abreu; daughter, Carmen Maria Abreu Patterson; son-in-law, Matthew L. Patterson; two grandchildren, Leah and Caleb Patterson; mother-in-law, Rosa Basulto; sister, Dulce M. Hernandez and 10 numerous nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers and sisters (Martin, Osvaldo, Liduvina, Eusebio, Abundio, Marcelina, Graciniano, Francisco, and Agustin), and nieces and nephews, Jorge Luis, Mirta, Estrella, and Edilia.

Visitation at McKneely Funeral Home, Amite, from 5:30 PM until 8:30 PM, Friday, March 27 and from 8 AM until 10:30 AM on Saturday, March 28. Funeral Mass Service will be held at 11 AM at St. Helena Catholic Church, Amite on Saturday. Interment at Amite Memorial Gardens.
