Lydia was born to Samuel Peden and Lydia Potter at Lancaster Co., PA. The Peden family moved from Lancaster Co. to York Co. PA. prior to the Revolution and lived there during the war, most of the time in Manahan Twp. They were received into the Quaker Warrington Meeting on Oc. 13, 1770

When Lydia and her younger brother Alexander, moved with their parents from York Co. to Washington Co. their mother and the two children affiliated with the Westland Meeting near Centerville, PA.

The 1820 US Census showed Lydia Peden age 45 & up, living by herself, but not on the same page with Alexander Peden. The 1830 US Census shows her living with the Joseph Peden family. She died before the 1850 Census.

Lydia was still living in WA. County on Aug 27, 1838 and again in 1844. Quaker church records indicate that she was disunified from the church in 1824. Family tradition would lead us to believe she had an alcohol problem and this was possibly the reason for her dismissal. She never married.
