Myrtle E. Clowe, 88, Holton, died Monday, April 22, 1996, at a Topeka care home.

She was born Jan. 18, 1908 in the Pleasant Grove area, the daughter of Charles G. and Eva Lyons Abele.

Myrtle attended Pleasant Grove Rural High School in 1928 and attended Business College in Kansas City.

She worked at Slimaker Dress Factory in Holton many years. Mrs. Clowe was a member of OES at Wetmore and Circleville, Home Demonstration Unit, United Methodist Women and the Evangel United Methodist Church, Holton.

Myrtle married Jesse C. Clowe on April 5, 1931 at Hiawatha. He died July 30, 1987.

Survivors include one son, Charles Clowe, Topeka; one sister, Ada Reser, Topeka; five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Edward Eugene Clowe in 1982 and a great-grandson, Jason Scott in 1989.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 25, 1996 at the Evangel United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Holton Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Wetmore Methodist Church or the Evangel United Methodist Church and sent in care of Kansas State Bank or Denison State Bank. Mercer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
