Richard Grissom of Mitchell died November 7, 1997, at Bedford Regional Medical Center.

The son of William Milton and Violet Pearl (Ryburn) Grissom, he was born on July 3, 1931, in Lawrence County. He married Janelle Mundy on December 4, 1982, and she survives.

Surviving with the wife are three sons: Tim Grissom, Tovey Grissom, and Travis Grissom, all of Mitchell; three step-sons: Nathan Jenkins and Shane Daughrity, both of Mitchell, and Shawn Daughrity of Fort Myers, FL; one step-daughter, Nelsa King of Mitchell: two sisters: Martha Atchason of Bedford and Vilena Leger of Salem; fourteen grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters.

The owner of Grissom Auction, he had been employed at Carpenter Body Works and retired from Ford Electronics in 1996.

He was a 1951 graduate of Huron High School and was a member of Sons of American Legion and Cecil C. Martin American Legion Post 250.

Burial will be in Bryantsville Cemetery.
