Mr. David "Mike" Ammons, 70, passed away Wednesday, March 18 at Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. He was the husband of Annette (Small) Ammons with whom he shared more than 51 years of marriage.

Born June 14, 1944 in Conway, Mike was the son of the late William Arthur and Frances Janet (Jones) Ammons. He was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War and served in the Unites States Air Force. He was employed as an Electrical Engineer with Santee Cooper for 35 years and was known to his friends as a "Jack of All Trades" who could fix anything. Mike's handshake was his word. Mike was also an avid reader and an expert at trivia. He enjoyed plundering through yard sales and flea markets, especially collecting tools. Mike also loved animals and was known to stop by the roadside to pick up strays on many occasions.

Nothing gave him more satisfaction than spending time with his beloved family. In addition to his wife he leaves a daughter, LuAnne Carmichael and her husband David and a son Marcus Ammons; 2 grandchildren, Sarah Emery and Jackson Ammons. Mike was predeceased in death by his sister, Bonnie Davis.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00PM Saturday, March 21, 2015 at Goldfinch Funeral Home, Conway Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
