Clifford Sherwood, 100, a lifelong Rush County resident passed away at his home in Rush County on Sunday March 22, 2015.

Clifford was born in Rush County on January 14, 1915 to the late Henry L. and Hazel (McMichel) Sherwood. He married Crystal Lucille Morgan on January 4, 1941 and she preceded him in death on September 16, 1994. In July of 1995 he married Wanda.

Clifford Sherwood served in the US Army during WWII. He was a Rush County farmer and drove a school bus for 22 years and worked at Harcourt Outlines. Clifford was a member of Milroy United Methodist Church, the Milroy F&AM Masonic Lodge and the Scottish Rite. He also worked with the Anderson Township Volunteer Fire Dept. Clifford was a past member of the Milroy Community Club, the Rush County Muskrats and the Milroy Coyote Club and Rushville Elks Lodge #1307.

Survivors include wife Wanda Sherwood, 3 daughters, Connie Cooley and husband Garry, DeBorah Springmire and husband James and Pam Sherwood all of Milroy, 4 brothers, Charles “PeeWee” Sherwood and wife Carolyn of Dublin, Franklin Sherwood and wife Nancy, Delbert Sherwood and Kenneth Sherwood and wife Viola all of Cambridge City, 3 grandchildren, David Springmire, Michael Cooley and wife Michele, Susan Slaughter and husband Zack, step granddaughter, Stephanie Thomas and husband Jeff and 3 great grandchildren, Brandon and Kayla Springmire and Evan Cooley and 1 step grandchild Royce Cooley.

In addition to his parents and wife Crystal, Clifford was preceded in death by 4 sisters, Maggie Richardson, Juanita Daugherty, Eulala Halterman and Evelyn Brandon, 3 brothers George, Lowell and Henry “Jr.” and granddaughter, Diana Springmire.

Services will be held at 10 AM Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville. Pastor Phil Mitchell will preside. Friends are welcome to visit from 4-8 PM Friday, March 27 at the mortuary.

Burial will be in East Brook Cemetery, Milroy.

Military Honors will be observed at the mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or Milroy United Methodist Church.
