1919 - 2015 Laura Victery Abercrombie, 95, of Lumberton, made her final trip home on March 19, 2015. She was born to Joseph Joe Holshausen and Nettie Canon Victery, Sr. on June 19, 1919. She spent her early years in New Willard, TX and graduated from Livingston High School in 1937. She went on to graduate from Sam Houston State Teachers College in 1942 with a Bachelor of Business Administration Degree. After college, she married Thomas Mardez Abercrombie of Livingston, on May 24, 1947. They spent their first years of marriage traveling from town to town across Texas as her husband was employed by Southwestern Bell Telephone Company, building many of the first phone lines. After the birth of their three children, they moved the family to Lumberton in 1960. She was a member of Woodcrest United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers, and taking care of her family. No one ever left her house hungry. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Mardez Abercrombie and her 4 siblings, Joseph Victery, Canon Victery, Jennie Cayton, and Florence Clarkson. She is survived by her daughters, Susan Neil of Mauriceville, Laurie Thomas and husband Wayne of Lumberton; son, Marty Abercrombie and wife Jana of Lumberton; grandchildren, Tara Triana and husband Wayne of Nacogdoches, Shane Thomas of Lumberton, Chance Abercrombie and wife Ashlee of Kountze, Wade Abercrombie and wife Nicole of Beaumont; great grandchildren, Kaylee and Leah Abercrombie and Thomas Triana. Her family will receive friends at Woodcrest United Methodist Church on Monday March 23. 2015 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The funeral service is scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Tuesday March 24, 2015 at Woodcrest Methodist Church, officiated by Reverend Garry Masterson. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Rice Cemetery near Leggett, TX. Serving as pallbearers are Howard Victery, Bobby Victery, Chance Abercrombie, Wade Abercrombie, Shane Thomas, and Wayne Triana.
