Marvin M. Owenby, of the Cruso Community, passed away unexpectedly, at his home, Saturday, March 14, 2015.

He was preceded in death by his parents; Jay and Hallie Owenby, a brother Melvin Owenby, a brother-in-law: Tommy Russell, sister-in-law Gail Owenby, and nephew Dwight Owenby.

Marvin is survived by two sons, a daughter-in-law, his youngest son's fiancee', three brothers, four sisters, three grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Marvin had a "green thumb" when it came to plants, gardening and landscaping, he made everyplace he touched beautiful. He loved talking to everyone, tinkering with anything he could find and was one of the best cooks around! He was truly a "Jack of all trades". Marvin was of the Baptist faith, was saved and a good Christian. One of his favorite places to work was Pier One as a Sales Manager and enjoyed everything and everyone he worked with.

Funeral Services were held 1 p.m. Friday, March 20, 2015 at Smoky Mountain Chapel with Marshall Owenby and Rev. Gary Putnam officiating. Burial with graveside service followed at at the Grant Family Cemetery in Silver Mine, NC.
