Funeral services for Waldo Gordy Anderson Jr. were held at 2 PM, Sunday, October 6, 1974 at LaBelle Heights Baptist Church, Marietta, Cobb County, Georgia.

Gordy, 16, was killed when the car he was driving struck a telephone poll in Smyrna, Cobb County, Georgia. Also killed in the accident were 16 year old Alan P Brown and 14 year old Larry Clint Moseley

Two other teenage boys were thrown from the car and critically injured.

Gordy was a student at Osborne High School in Cobb County.He was survived by his parents, Mr. & Mrs. Waldo G. Anderson Sr. of 55 LaRose Circle in Marietta; a brother, Van Lee Anderson of Marietta; paternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. W.G. Anderson of Register, Bulloch County, Georgia; and maternal grandmother, Mrs. Mary Smith of Mansfield, Newton County, Georgia.

Burial was in Laurelwood Memorial Gardens, Doraville, DeKalb County, Georgia.

Note: Prior to 1990, this cemetery was known as Laurelwood Gardens. It was renamed North Atlanta Memorial Park and Chapel Mausoleum.
