Fond du Lac Commonwealth Reporter, Apr. 16, 1971, p. 20:1. N.A. Braun of City Dies at Age of 84. Nicholas A. Braun, 84, of 388 E. 13th St., died at 1 a.m. today at his home. He was born June 7, 1886, in Eden, a son of Peter and Julia Herbert Braun. He married Elizabeth Blackbird on June 17, 1920 in North Fond du Lac. Mr. Braun operated a general store in Eden for many years and was the postmaster there from Nov. 1, 1940, until 1956 when he retired and moved to the city. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Order of Foresters, St. Lawrence Seminary Calvary Parents Guild, National Association of Civil Employes, St. Joseph's Church and Holy Name Society of the parish. Survivors include his widow; a son, the Rev. David J. Braun of St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Milwaukee; a daughter, Mrs. Robert F. Daul of the city; three grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Thomas Meade of Campbellsport and Mrs. Floyd Carr of Route 1, Eden; and a brother, Edward Braun of Eden. He was preceded in death by a daughter, three brothers and a sister. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church. Fr. Braun, son of the deceased, will officiate at a concelebrated mass. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery at Eden. Friends may call from 2 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Braun, who died Friday, were held Monday at 10 a.m. from Uecker-Witt Funeral Home and at 10:30 a.m. from St. Joseph’s Church. Mr. Braun’s son, the Rev. David J. Braun, offered a Mass of Concelebration, assisted by the Rev. Robert Braun, the Rev. Brian Braun, OFM Cap., and Rev. Robert Schneider, the Rev Verne Schaefer, the Rev. Gerald McAdams, the Rev. John Lukaszewicz, the Rev. John Schmitz, the Rev. Neil Zenthefer, the Rev. Don Everman, the Rev. James Ernster, the Rev. Fred Heuser, the Rev. Gregory Chycinski and the Rev. John Enjejan and Rev. Richard Mirsberger.

Also in attendance was Bishop Leo J. Brust of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee. A total of 20 priests gave absolution. Burial was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Eden. Honorary pallbearers representing St. Joseph’s Holy Name Society were Dave Cravillion, Al Beau, Ray Abler, Edwin Nett, George Gilsdorf and Clarence Balthazor. The Knights of Columbus honorary bearers were Stephen McNamara, Alfred Loehr, Lester Herbert, Leo Cosgrove, Norbert Fleischman and Joseph Baumhardt. Honorary bearers from the Catholic Order of Foresters were John Hayes, Frank Flood and Leo Murphy. Active bearers for Mr. Braun were Herbert Niederehe, George Flood, Harold Flood, Oscar Braun, Omar Kussow and Monroe Smith.
