Rebecca's Brothers:
Alfred Whitehead Esq., and wife, of Fredericton, New Brunswick arrived in Brainerd this p. m. Mr. Whitehead is a brother to Major James Whitehead now in the Black Hills, well known in this state, and to Mrs. E. W. Hartley of this city, and is an uncle to the proprietors of the TRIBUNE
Mr. and Mrs. Whitehead propose remaining here on a protracted visit with friends for some time and Mr. Whitehead will visit several portions of the state meantime in the interest of the New Brunswick Amber Sugar Cane Company, of which he is the president, Major Jas. Whitehead is expected to arrive here from the Black Hills about the 25th inst. to meet Mr. and Mrs. Whitehead, whom he has not seen for about twenty years, when a happy reunion may be expected.
Mr. Whitehead's health, we regret to state, is very poor, the journey having been very severe upon him, but we trust a little rest, the change of climate and good care will soon bring him out all right. (Brainerd Tribune, 16 August 1879, p. 1, c. 1)

Maj. Jas. Whitehead arrived by this (Saturday) evening's train from the Black Hills to meet his brother, sister and relatives from the east, who are at present congregated here, and a pleasant reunion after many years of separation has gladdened the hearts of all. The Major reports times lively in the Hills and mining operations generally prosperous. He has an interest in a quartz lead which is just now promising rich returns, and his many friends may soon be pleased with the tiding that he is a millionaire or something. He enjoys excellent health and spirits, in fact appears to have been rejuvenated by his life in the mountains, and is "just as young as he used to be." (Brainerd Tribune, 23 August 1879, p. 4, c. 2)

Alfred Whitehead and wife take their departure next week for their home in Fredericton, New Brunswick, exceedingly well pleased with their visit in Minnesota and Mr. Whitehad's health very much improved. (Brainerd Tribune, 30 August 1879, p. 4, c. 1)

Major James Whitehead, late Indian agent and now miner and rancher near Deadwood, D. T., has been rusticating in Minneapolis, for some days, and came up to Brainerd for a sniff of metropolitan air this week. The Major thinks Brainerd is pushing right on to the front with so little fuss that it will be a city in something besides a name. (Brainerd Tribune, 04 October 1879, p. 4, c. 1)

Rebecca's Niece:
Miss Alfaretta Whitehead arrived as anticipated on Monday morning and is stopping with her aunt, Mrs. E. W. Hartley. (Brainerd Tribune, 01 January 1881, p. 1, c. 3) [Father is Alfred Whitehead.]
