Rutledge Cleveland "Bubba" Alford, 93, died Thursday, March 19, 2015, at his residence.
Mr. Alford was born March 21, 1921, in Florence County, a son of the late Ellie Parker Alford and the late Alice Hyman Alford.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a farmer, carpenter and logger, and had a great love for fishing. He was a member of Happy Home Original Free Will Baptist Church for over 50 years, where he served in the past as a deacon, a Sunday school superintendent, and a Sunday school teacher.
He was survived by his wife of 64 years, Kizzie Collins Alford of Andrews; two sons, Caroll (Patricia) Alford and Don (Deonna) Alford, both of Andrews; two daughters, Judy A. Gray of Greeleyville and Cheryl A. (Jeff) Davis of Cope; thirteen grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents; a son, Jimmy Alford; a brother, Nathan Alford; and three sisters, Louise Evans, Lizzie Mae Cox, and Aline Parrott.
Funeral services were 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 21, 2015, in Happy Home Original Free Will Baptist Church. The Rev. Daniel Jackson and the Rev. Thad Jacobs officiated. Burial, directed by Mayer Funeral Home, followed in Andrews Memorial Cemetery.
