Cortland– Janis A. Nochta, 89, passed away on Monday evening, March 16, 2015 at Vista Centre at the Ridge in Mineral Ridge, OH.

Janis was born in Beallsville, PA on May 17, 1925 a daughter of Raymond and Elsie (Doyle) Amos.

She was a 1944 graduate of Beallsville High School. She was a former member of Tod Ave Methodist Church of Warren. She was a member of P Buckley Moss Society, formerly active in P.T.O. She sponsored foreign exchange students through American Field Service and was a caretaker for members of her family.

She will be deeply missed by her three children, Charles R. (Linda) Nochta Jr. of Cortland, Todd A. (Susan) Nochta of Columbus, and Claudia J. (Gene) Balog of Atlanta, GA; three grandchildren, Bryan Balog, Kristen (Brian) West, and Laura Nochta; two great-grandchildren, Addison and Avery West; and one sister Toni Kimball of Phoenix, AR.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Charles Robert Nochta Sr., whom she married on October 1, 1945 and passed away on November 29, 2010.

Internment will take place at Crown Hill Burial Park where she'll be laid to rest next to her husband.
