Malinda Hash Bateman, 94, of Gainesboro, died Saturday in Winchester Medical Center.
Mrs. Bateman was born Feb. 16, 1890, in Grayson County, the daughter of Dennis and Celia Grubb Hash. She was a member of Pine Branch Baptist Church in Grayson County.
She married Charles Bateman June 16, 1912, in Grayson County. Mr. Bateman died Dec. 14, 1934.
Surviving are five daughters, Lola Kurka of College Park, Md., Irene Dill of Gainesboro, Lucille Bateman of Hyattsville, Md., Mary Silvert of Richmond, and Gaye Clark of Gainesboro; two sons, Charles f. Bateman of Marion and Grant O. Bateman of Falls Church; two sisters, Vergie Anderson of Independence, and Mattie Adams of Marion; 19 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren. A son, Lacy Bateman, is deceased.
A funeral will be Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Jones Funeral Home with the Rev. George H. Fraley officiating. Burial will be in Shenandoah Memorial Park.
Grandsons will be pallbearers.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 8:30.
