Dr. Joseph Palmer practiced medicine in his native town of Stonington Connecticut and was famous for his skill as a physician. He was the typical country doctor, the friend and advisor of the families he treated upon every subject, and he was greatly beloved. He was wel versed in the common legal processes, and did a large amount of lega work. He was very thrifty, became a large landowner and built several houses on his farms for his children on Pendelton Hill,.

He married Zipporah Billings, July 10, 1738, Stonington, New London Co., CT.

He married Mrs. Elizabeth (Stevens) Stewart, 1766, North Stonington.

William Stewart, Jr., m. Elizabeth Stevens Dec. 4, 1740. He was a pattern farmer of his day. He purchased of the Elliots what is now called Stewart Hill, and d. aged about 46 years, leaving a widow and nine children ; she afterwards m. Joseph Palmer, a widower with nine children, and they had one daughter Sabra, making a family of nineteen children.

Grave not marked and he is not listed in the 1934 Hale Collection survey of this cemetery, indicating he had no legible marker at that time either.
